Minisoldiers is supposed to have a chance of destroying planetary improvemments. Well, in over 20 games, using this invasion tactic has resulted in the loss of exactly ZERO planetary improvements. It worked in 1.0, but hasnt in the last couple betas.]

Basically give yoruself a 40% bonus in invasion without side effects! wahooo! jk seriously i do believe this is a bug

Yep, I just realized this myself. I didn't loose a single improvement, even after invading 6+ planets.

Hi!
Minisoldiers is supposed to have a chance of destroying planetary improvemments.

I'd say the chance is smaller than stated. In a recent game I got a destroyed building only once in ~20 invasions.

Don't forget you can spare a transport or two when using it on a planet with lots of pop and low approval rate. I'd rather pay some money, and have the saved transport take another planet.

I got one destroyed building in .017, and I use minisoldiers a lot.

It seems to have been working fine for me.

I have found since i use this a lot, that the MORE troops you send it seems to have a greater chance of destroying buildings.

IE: Sending 500 versus 5000. Because I think it matters how many you have left after winning.

If you sent 500 commandos into Iraq with the purpose of killing soldiers, versus 150,000 Id think you have way more social destruction in general with 150,000 versus 500.

But I still get buildings destroyed using Mini's in B4 B. But I always try and sned the bare minimum troops to get the job done. And sometiems (bug maybe) it doesnt even announce buildings get destroyed. But if you look at the colony layout while fighting and the the post war results you will notice buildings nerfed.

What's really annoying is when this happens and it's a Starport, the starport stays but cannot be used nor demolished sometimes. Aggrivating

My last game I invaded 11 planets successfully (Only the Vegans kick my butt... Go figure), and the mini's destroyed two improvements. The game before that I don't recall them destroying anyhting. Thus far on my current game they've destroyed 1 out of the 3 planets I've invaded.

Kinda random frequency on stuff being destroyed, but they've been owing stuff with the last two beta patchs for me.

Starports are flagged as indesctructable in beta 4B, so that shouldn't happen anymore. Perhaps that's even the reason it was done, because it's otherwise an annoyance that you can't destroy them yourself.

It may pick a random tile to destroy, and if nothing is there not destroy anything. Most of the time if you take a larger developed planet, something will get blown up...
on Apr 22, 2006
If I remember correctly the stated chances are 5-10%. That's pretty low, and it depends on how it's calculated. If the game selects 5-10% of the total tiles on a planet, you have a pretty good chance (depending on the planet size and how built up it is) of not hitting anything. If it takes that 5-10% from the built tiles, then we have a bug.

For the record I have not had minis destroy anything afaik.

It states "planetary improvements" destoryed....that implies built tiles...

Maybe slightly out of the topic, but... Does anybody use any other invasion tactics than: Mini Soldiers, Information Warfare and Traditional Warfare? I usually use MiniSoldiers, unless the planets aproval rating is low in which case I use Information Warfare. Somtimes if my opponet is a miserable weakling I just use Traditional Warfare.

My point is... If those 2 special tactics are the only one used, the costs of using different tactics are not very well balanced. I would make this 2 a bit more expensive while reducing the price of the other tactics...

Sometimes I do 'scorched earth' on lesser pq enemy worlds. Who cares if you turn a 4 into a 3. or even a 6 into 4.
I use minis on worlds I want less damage on. At most minis destroy 1 improvement. So no big deal.

Also have just started use the battle mechs but thats a new mod.

I sent 4 advanced transports with 2 modules each (8 billion soldiers?) to invade a planet with a 26 billion population. I noticed there was a 40% approval rate so chose information warfare. I got 8 billion helpers to make it a clean 16-18 ratio. I had enough "troops" remaining that all 4 transports left fully loaded. For my next trick, I used those 4 transports and took another 3 planets.

I have seen mini soldiers destroy improvements, but not that often.
