One coder's view of the world of technology, politics, and whatever else strikes his fancy.

puts his "stupid user" hat on...apologies to the programming staff if the following aren't really bugs

Possible bugs (these act most like bugs):

Typo in the bottom HUD for "X turns to Spell Level 8", it says "X turns to level &" (ampersand).  I could post a screen shot, but I'd have to get back to level 7 in spells.

After a certain point in military research, at nearly every level I get the message "due to our military research, we can now build archers!"  It keeps adding archers to my selection area on what I can train.

I'm also seeing duplicate entries of the same unit in my selection area of what to train for other units.

Possible bugs (but possibly due to user confusion)

A lot of units have the exact same stats (cost, attack, defense).  For example, Knights and Dukes are identical as far as I can tell

After conquering many cities and defeating the enemy Sovereign, I'm now operating at -35 food.  Not sure how this happened, and the -35 number doesn't affect my overall total of food (it's stuck in the HUD.)

Sometimes when I attack a lone creature with a party it gives me the option to "Battle" or not.  Sometimes it automatically autoattacks, much to my chagrin.  I can handle the attack much better than the AI can due to my use of magic spells.  (I hate losing characters this way.)

There is no difference between Brown Horse Mount, Black Horse Mount, or the Wog Rider mounts.

What does the horses resource do?

I hope this helps and aren't redundant!

Since each housing improvement takes food, it sounds like since you just captured a bunnch of cities it "subtracted" the food cost of those houses from your total.

In the game options, set the tactical battle threshold to 0 so you'll be prompted to duke it out each time.

What does the horses resource do?

Allows you to train mounted units, think it needs a research as well.

About the horses, I've researched mounted units and had the resource, but still couldn't build mounted units.  What am I missing?

I'm not sure. Last time I tried (was in beta, granted), the mount would just show up as an equippable thing on the unit design screen somewhere.

The question I have is not that the houses require food, but it seems like I'm also capturing food resources attached to some of those cities.  It is possible I missed some when the enemy sovereign died, but -31?  Also, the food doesn't keep going negative in the HUD, like it should.  (When a number is positive it adds to the total amount.)

Yeah, that's why I put subtracted in quotes. I think what it's doing is just subtracting the value without looking at any food sources you do capture when you gain control of the cities.

Curious - what does it show for food in your kingdom report?

It depends on what you're playing. Kingdom or Empire. If you are an empire, you cannot use horses, you use Wargs. If you are a kingdom, then you use horses instead of wargs.

I can build mounted units but ONLY if I create them in the unit designer.  There are no by-default units that come mounted. (Again, I could be missing something)

I should say *in the shop* there is no difference.  You can buy all and it doesn't tell you which one you can or can't equip, yet they all have the same stats.
